GP Out of Hours
From 1 April 2019 DHU Health Care will be operating the service for patients registered with a Northamptonshire GP.
Dr Emma Donnelly, Clinical Lead for Urgent Care said: “The GP Out of Hours service provides a valuable service for patients who require urgent support from a GP when their practice is closed including patients living in nursing and residential homes, and end of life patients.
“We want to assure patients requiring access to an out of hours GP that they will still be able to access the same high quality service they always have.“
Patients who urgently require a GP outside of core practice hours such as evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays and cannot wait until their practice re-opens will be able to access the service by calling NHS 111.
Where else can you get help when the surgery is closed?
Can you wait for your surgery to re-open?
If your problem is not urgent, please contact your local pharmacist for advice. If they assess that you need urgent care from our service, they can contact us directly.
The pharmacist is an expert on medicines and is qualified to give advice on common complaints, such as coughs, colds, flu, sore throats aches and pains
If you need the ‘morning after pill’, you will find that many pharmacies sell this over the counter after a consultation with the pharmacist. Some can provide it on the NHS.
If you run out of medication when the surgery is closed, please always contact your usual pharmacist who will advise you and may be able to issue the medicine you require.
If you have an urgent dental problem and are unable to wait until your surgery is next open, please contact your nearest NHS 8 to 8 Dental Centre which is open from 8.00am to 8.00pm 7 days a week, 365 days a year (including bank holidays). The contact details for the 8-8 practices are:
